Polytetraflouroethylene (TFE) and Kynar - PVDF are both experiencing long lead times.
PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene product PTFE (TFE) as well as Kynar-PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The world requirement for this mineral has grown significantly, and also the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and incredibly low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is used within dozens of purposes from non-stick fry pans to ptfe tape for use at home. This mineral is the important raw materials in the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and lots of refrigerants. This increasing amount of demand combined with shortage of raw materials is mainly responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double within the last year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to keep at it in the near future.
