I'm a Roofer, Not a Marketer. But This Finally Made Sense to Me.
I'll be straight with you. I've never been a marketing guy. I know roofing. I know how to run a crew, price a job, keep customers happy, and make sure the work is done right. That's my world. But like every other guy running a home service business, I'm always trying to figure out how to keep more work coming in. And at some point you have to deal with the marketing question. So I've sat through the meetings. I've listened to the pitches. I've handed over money to agencies who sent me reports I didn't understand and results I couldn't measure. Every time I asked a simple question like "how much is it going to cost me to land one new customer?" I'd get a long answer that didn't actually answer anything. I stopped trusting marketers a while ago. Not because I think marketing doesn't work. It clearly does. I just couldn't find anyone who would talk to me straight.
